Georgia Fashion Week: A 6-Season Photo Chronicle

Georgia Fashion Week is not just an event, but a cultural phenomenon that transforms Tbilisi into a regional fashion capital. I had the honor, as an accredited professional Fashion photographer, I was struck by this splendor during the sixth season. Every season was held in a grand setting, Sheraton Grand Tbilisi Metekhi PalaceIn a space full of luxury, which was inspiring in itself.

In this post, we present you with an exclusive album Tinatin Magalashvili Working with Tinatin as a photographer on this unique collection was a real professional challenge and pleasure.

Georgia Fashion Week - Why is it a unique platform?

Tbilisi Fashion Week is significant because it provides Georgian designers with the opportunity to reach the international stage. Over the course of 6 seasons, I have witnessed the evolution of the local fashion industry firsthand. This is not just a clothing showcase; it is a fusion of art, business, and culture. Each season demanded a different approach and a keen sense of pace from the photographer.

Venue: Sheraton Grand Tbilisi Metekhi Palace – Lighting and Architecture

Sheraton Grand Metekhi Palace - Choosing it as the host location was no coincidence. Its grand halls and exclusive interiors provided a stunning backdrop. However, from a photographic perspective, working with the hotel's interior lighting was often a complex challenge. This allowed me to fully utilize my expertise in lighting management, capturing both clean, sharp shots and dramatic, shadow-rich moments that reflected the theatrical nature of the fashion show.

Tinatin Magalashvili: Elegance and Detail Photography

One of the strongest aspects of my portfolio within this project is the collaboration with designer Tinatin Magalashvili. Her collections are always distinguished by feminine lines, innovative fabrics and exceptional attention to detail.

Capturing Collections: Structure and Texture

  • Highlighting the texture: Tinatin Magalashvili's designs often feature intricate fabrics. My goal was to capture the density of the fabric, the folds, and the complexity of the embroidery in close-up shots, which is impossible to capture with a regular smartphone.
  • Motion capture: The dynamics of the designer's dresses moving on the catwalk was a major challenge. For this, I used time-lapse and continuous shooting to capture that unique moment when the clothes come to life in the air.
  • Portraits in Backstage: The portraits of Tinatin Magalashvili before the collection show, where she is putting the finishing touches, were one of the most important parts of my job as a *Backstage Photographer*. These shots reveal the designer's true emotions and hard work.

Anatomy of Catwalk Photography: 6 Seasons of Experience

Working at Fashion Week requires not only good equipment, but also the ability to make decisions in a split second. My technical arsenal included:

  • Lenses: I mainly used a lens (80mm) with a high aperture (f/1.8 or faster), which ensured the sharpness of the subject and a beautiful blur of the background space (Bokeh).
  • Positioning: Over the course of 6 seasons, I learned which position was best on the *Sheraton Grand* runway - where I could create more drama and fully showcase the collection.
  • Post-Processing: Fast and high-quality editing is crucial. Color correction, skin processing, and frame cropping were done according to industry standards.

Behind the Scenes and Street Style - Unseen Stories

The spirit of Fashion Week is often hidden backstage. Makeup artists, stylists, models, and designers in the final stages of preparation—these are the most captivating moments for a photographer. Meanwhile, Street Style photography, which captures the unique flair of the guests, adds another dimension and enhances Tbilisi Fashion SEO Ranking.
