Mariam & Giorgi: An emotional wedding moment at Father Davit's Church. On a wedding day, there are thousands of emotional minutes, but there are a few moments that will remain in everyone's memory - and such is the moment of exiting the church. I photographed Mariam and Giorgi's wedding on Mtatsminda, At Father Davit's Church, and this photo clearly illustrated what joy, gratitude, and a celebration of love can mean in a single frame.

Location on the map – Father Davit's Church

Look at the photo: Mariam, with a bouquet of flowers in her hands, steps out onto the threshold of the church doors, smiling and filled with joy - she laughs genuinely, brimming with happiness. Behind her, Giorgi radiates calmness and strength. Around them, friends and family members shower them with flower petals - a kind of rain of love that accompanies the newlyweds at the beginning of their shared journey.

This photo is not only an emotional memory for the couple but also for me as a photographer - because it symbolizes everything that documentary wedding photography should express: movement, real emotions, and fleeting, unrepeatable beauty.

This particular shot was recognized by PROWEDaward - in 2024 as the photo of the day, week, month, and year - which motivates me to turn every wedding into an unforgettable story.

Why is the moment of exiting the church so important in a wedding photo session?

1. This is a moment of relief: The couple has just made one of the most important vows of their lives. Every step in the church is serious, prayerful, and emotional. It is precisely at the moment of exiting the church that relief, happiness, and the first feeling of "being newlywed" are revealed.

2. Real emotions: This is one of the most unplanned and natural moments. There's no posing, just laughter, tears, clasped hands, and unexpected reactions to the rain of flowers. It's precisely in such shots that the couple's character and the wedding's aura are revealed.

3. Unity and expression of love from those around them: Friends and family are already ready to celebrate at this time - they are shouting, laughing, clapping. This creates a unique background that cannot be achieved in studio conditions. The photo does not only show the couple - it shows the joy of the people, which is the most important part of a wedding.

4. Symbolic meaning: Exiting the church is often associated with the beginning of a new path - after taking vows before God, the couple leaves the church together as husband and wife. This is not just a shot, it is a symbol of unity and the beginning of a new life.

If you are planning a wedding photo session in a church or with a church as a background…

Make sure your photographer observes the details and can capture those fleeting emotions that will never be repeated. In my practice, photos taken inside and around the church often become the couple's favorite shots - not only visually, but emotionally too.

If you are planning a wedding in Tbilisi, Father Davit's Church located on Mtatsminda is one of the most impressive locations with a traditional, peaceful, and spiritually rich atmosphere.
